I have just found out about the passing of Cadet Bland and though many years have past, I want folks to know that he was a fine cadet and a fine person. Though I never made it past the Fall Semester of my freshman year in 1980, I never forgot Cadet Bland and others who tried to help me during that time. Though West Point didn't work out for me, I used the advice that Cadet Bland and others gave me to pick up the pieces after I left in December of 1980. I was determined that I would not let them down and have tried to live up to their advice for the past 22 years. I hope that those who knew Cadet Bland take comfort in the fact that he is still making a difference after all these years. Peace, David Duarte Company I-3 1980 |
