| John was a superb officer, smart, energetic, and other-centered. He commanded two companies in our battalion with great distinction. In situations that generated stress in his contemporaries, John radiated only confidence and good humor. Indeed, I can recall few times he was not smiling. He was simply a good man who worked hard and gave to life far, far more than he took from it. I miss him mightily and pray for his family's safekeeping. |
