Thought I would share a little about what Wayne did after retirement while serving as a member of the Science Applications International Corporation (SAIC) Board of Directors. I met Wayne while serving as the chair of the SAIC Division Managers Forum. This forum represented the division and operation managers levels of management in the company as part of the corporate governance infrastructure. At Wayne's request, I met with him quarterly, at a minimum, and normally much more frequently than that. Wayne was an exceptional board member. He took the time to learn at the ground level what employee-owners were thinking. We talked about how various new corporate policies would affect the first two levels of management. He wanted to learn what the institutional barriers were to our performing our duties effectively. Most importantly, not only did he inquire and listen, he took action to benefit the performance of the company. He got personally involved with many of our projects and provide sage advice. Wayne was the epitome of a warrior. We will miss his leadership. Mike Yap '67
