Be Thou At Peace
Posted by George Kilishek on August 18, 2007:
I was serving as a platoon leader in Company D, 1st BG 27th Infantry in early 1958 when Cliff arrived back in Hawaii after graduating from USMA and attending Basic, Airborne and Ranger schools at Ft Benning. I was privileged to meet him at the boat when it arrived from San Francisco and to drive him back to Schofield Barracks to start his career in the Wolfhounds. My duty (it was really a pleasure) was to serve as a guide and helper during his first weeks in the unit.
He took to the job of Rifle Platoon Leader like a duck to water, showing a gift for leadership and a love for the life he had chosen.
Cliff was a man liked by everyone who met him and I have many fond memeories of him. During the few years we served together he was a fine officer and friend.
Our paths never crossed again after that long ago time in Hawaii, and it is with greatest regret that I extend my sympathy to his family.
