Be Thou At Peace

Posted by Dr Charles N. Toftoy on November 14, 2007:

Tank Reid was my hero. He looked like the All-American Spartan Cadet. Firm jaw, powerful shoulders, handsome. One time, during our wrestling team practice, Coach Alitz told me to take on Tank. Alitz liked to have wrestlers match against others of a much greater weight to build strength. Tank was in the down position. I had my right arm over his back, my left arm on his left forearm as is customary in the ready position. Then came the command: "ready wrestle". It was then that I realized why Loren was called "Tank". It was like I had my arm around a tank. I could not move him at all...not even a little bit. I sure respected him a lot and will miss him greatly. Chuck Toftoy, E-2
