Be Thou At Peace
Posted by Joanne and Gerard Connolly on January 24, 2008:
To the Tisdell Family,
We did not personally have the honor of meeting or knowing your son, but as part of the WP Family and having a present plebe, we would like to extend our deepest sympathy and prayers to all of you. Know that all hearts are heavy when one of us is hurting. That Long Gray Line runs wide, deep, and through all of us for eternity. It truly can never be broken by even death or separation. May the Lord hold all of you very close during this most difficult time.
A short note:
On Monday of this week my husband and I dropped off 7 plebes, including our son. We had just enjoyed another 3-day pass which allowed us the privilege to have a few out-of-towners for the W/E. (Sound like something you were well aquainted with as a local?) As we approached Grant Turnaroud we saw a group of other cadets, cows we were told, hastening over to a briefing. It was regarding your son's passing. There was an inherent solemn sadness that could not be denied and we all stood at attention while some even shed a tear. No, we didn't know Mitchel but we know him among those of the WP Family and the shadow of the Long Gray Line. I felt an irony. It was some kind of heavenly joy amidst the sadness that his mission, even though seemingly short, was completed and well done. His life speaks for itself and all of us are touched by it, even if we've never met him. Yes Mitchel, be thou at peace.
