Les and I, temporary members of the Portuguese Club during Yearling summer, took the opportunity to travel to Brazil, as guests of the Brazilian military. Residing at Forte de Copacabana, a trip to the Brazilian Military Academy with the US advisor, lunch on the poop deck with the Commandant, recognition by the US Ambassador at the Fourth of July celebration were some of the highlights of the trip. Les was a great traveling companion. As Glee Club members we enjoyed many opportunities to get away from the rigors at West Point. I shall also remember him for his great sense of humor and outstanding demeanor. He was a true friend. |
