Be Thou At Peace

Posted by W John Soper on November 21, 2004:

Bob and I were stationed together in 1983 at Ellsworth AFB, SD. Bob was the commander of the 28th Bomb Wing and I was his vice commander. He quickly established himself as the 'Wing King' and earned a reputation as a 'no nonsense' kind of guy. He always let you know where he stood on any matter. It was a pleasure to serve with him, especially since being in the Air Force didn't offer many opportunities to serve with classmates, much less in a command capacity. Unfortunately our relationship only lasted three months until I was given command of my own wing. Bob and Judy served the Air Force and the 28th Bomb Wing with dignity and honor during the time I was privileged to be with them.
