Be Thou At Peace

Posted by Jack Halsey on November 22, 2004:

I was never stationed with Bob. I got to know him after retirement. Bob lived life passionately. One of his passions was cooking. Bob could please your palate with Chinese fare (his first love, I think), traditional Irish dishes, or American comfort food. He was Master of the kitchen. Another of Bob?s passions was sharing his life. He could entertain you for hours with stories of growing up wearing pegged pants in Youngstown, visiting classmates throughout the world, or exploits of his Soldier Grandson (Spencer). He had a comic?s sense of timing when he told his latest favorite Irish or Blond joke. Bob loved his family, his country, and his classmates. He showed his love in many ways. I will cherish his memory. I am thankful for the opportunity to get to know him, and to count him as a friend.
