Be Thou At Peace

Posted by Pete Kusek on December 29, 2006:

Paul and I first became acquainted one afternoon during plebe year when he wandered into my room as I was struggling with math homework. He had seen my name on the door and correctly figured that I was a fellow polack. Paul was one of the brightest guys in our class and in a few minutes that day he explained the homework better than my instructor was able to do in a whole class period. He would stop by occasionally after that just to make sure I was still getting by.

We stayed in touch after graduation and I was in his wedding party while he was in mine. Our paths crossed now and then and we served together at Army Concepts Analysis Agency in the early 1980s.

We hadn't seen each other in several years but I talked with him on the phone about a year before he died and he was his old wry, cantankerous self.

Paul was a good friend for many years and I was very sad when he died.
