Be Thou At Peace

| Yearling year Spring Break, Alex took me home with him to Schenectady. The weather was cold and snowy, not like this Texas boy's home. But his home was warm in every possible way. Alex, in his own writings, said his family did not speak much English; and, I suppose they did not. But, there was no problem communicating! As long as we did not stop eating, everything was fine. There certainly was no motivation on our part to stop; the food was great. After we returned to WP, it took us at least 2 weeks to run off the weight we gained in those few days. We got to see Alex for the first time since graduation at the 45th; he seemed fine and am sure he did not expect his life to end so soon. Most of us are probably in that boat. Thanks Alex for great memories and for your generosity. |
