Fred was a member of the First Class Detail for 3rd Company at Camp Buckner in 1957. As I remember, he lived in the barracks with the 2d Platoon that was led by Bob Donovan. We learned that Fred was an avid archer. After taps he would place his target at the end of the barracks near the latrine. Fred would then begin his practice to the dismay of the Yearlings. They learned to go to the latrine before taps and not to wander about after lights out. Bob Donovan could provide more detailed information about our avid archer who gave us much good cheer.
