Be Thou At Peace

Born May 2, 1919 in Chicago, Illinois, died on August 22, 2016 at his home in Sterling, Virginia. Edward attended West Point Military Academy where he met and later married the beautiful Helena Monica McCann. He entered the Army in 1941, attended the War College, and received his MBA from Harvard University. Col. Geldermann served a tour of duty in England during WWII. He, Helena, and family of four children enjoyed three years abroad in Heidelberg, Germany, and various locations including Yokohama in Japan. The remainder of the time they made their home Bethesda, Maryland. Edward retired from the military in 1961 and began a teaching career in the Department of Business Administration at Montgomery College in Rockville. After the death of his beloved first wife, he was blessed to meet vivacious Lois Sameth Gould whom he married in 1992. The couple made their home most recently at West Falls and Johnson Center of Falcons Landing in Virginia. In addition to his wife Lois, he is survived by four beloved children, Jay Geldermann of Laytonsville, MD, Barbara Hails of Olney, MD., Janice Davis of Gainesville, VA, and Mary Ann Varville of San Antonio, TX. He is "Poppa" to nine grandchildren and fifteen great-grandchildren. A private burial service will be held in Arlington National Cemetery.
