Ed Saunders was a remarkable human being and made a lasting impression on all of us who had the privilege of working under him in the Department of Physics at West Point. He was passionate about physics and was dedicated to providing cadets with the best possible foundation in the sciences. He was also a caring leader who established a wide variety of social events for his staff. Morale in the Physics Department was always tops. One memory I will always cherish was him showing up in the early morning at our Stony Lonesome Quarters on New Years Day 1978, to pin on my Major's leaves and be the first to congratulate me on being promoted. He will sorely be missed, and we offer our sincere sympathy to Jean and the family. |
