William Jackson Whitener

West Point, 1946

Be Thou At Peace

Posted by Jerry L Crosby Sr of Arizona on November 29, 2012:

"This wonderful soldier was a harbinger of good will and
support at West Point. He was the epitome of the best man
for the Army. I shall miss him knowing that a friend has
departed; moreover, I shall never forget him and his family.

Our brother William Jackson Whitener has reached the end of his earthly toils. The brittle thread which bound him to earth has been severed and the liberated spirit has winged its flight to the unknown world. The silver cord is loosed; the golden bowl is broken; the pitcher is broken at the fountain; and the wheel is broken at the cistern. The dust has returned to the earth as it was, and the spirit has returned to GOD who gave it."

Eccl. Chp. 12

Well Done Bill. Be Thou at Peace.

Though like a wanderer, the sun gone down,
Darkness be over me, my rest a stone.
Yet in my prayers I'll be, Nearer my GOD to Thee
Nearer my GOD to Thee, Nearer to Thee.
