As we approach the 50th anniversary of that terrible accident that took both your lives on Dad's 34th birthday, August 31, 1958, I will memorialize my loss for anyone who finds themselves for whatever reason on this web page. I am Kelly and I was 2 years, 2 months old when you and Mom died on Lake Ontario 50 years ago.
I'm sorry to say I hardly knew you! But, I've never forgotten you... For 50 years I have listened to stories, looked at photographs, and followed your guidance in the form of that small voice in the back of my mind. I have lived my life to make you proud, have overcome hardships and eulogized others who have come and gone with the passing of the years, repeating those stories and sharing those photos with everyone I've loved. I have laughed and cried with Tom, Bill and Mary. I have called others Mom and Dad - Margaret and Bill Bauman, Marge's younger brother and his wife who adopted all four of us children after that tragic day and raised us as their own. Together, we have weathered the upheaval your untimely deaths have created with a ripple effect throughout our lives and the lives of our children and their children.
I am Kelly, and you would have liked me. With God's grace we'll meet again, although you have never been far away.
