I knew Wes Brothers quite well. He was an inventor and brought his own Metal Lathe with him when he entered West Point as a Cadet. It is my understanding that after becoming a Fighter Pilot he designed and tested the system which ejected spent rounds from the USAF Fighters into the slipstream. His design was used for many years by the USAF.
