Be Thou At Peace

Posted by Dennis Dillon on April 27, 2015:

I had the extreme privilege of working for General Felices as an Administrative and personal Aide at Vandenberg AFB, California.

Having worked for 2 other Generals before General Felices I was not used to the personal care that he showed to all who came in contact with him or Mrs. Felices.

The General showed his kindness to me and my wife on many occasions and even came to the hospital to personally make sure my wife was well taken care of.

He would take me out to play tennis and just ride around the base to make sure everything was going well. He loved life and lived it to its fullest. One of my duties was to make sure that all of the clubs would have chartreuse for his wife Shirley who also was a wonderful person.

When he left Vandenberg AFB, he asked me if my wife and daughter would like to be stationed with him but I chose to leave the Air Force.

I wanted to write this because I have thought about him many times when I would look at the sky and see missile tracks from Vandenberg.

God bless General Felices and thank you for the time we spent.
