Jack T. Cairns

West Point, 1946

Be Thou At Peace

Posted by Scott Cairns on April 1, 2014:

Jack T. Cairns was my father. He was someone who loved West Point and the core values that it taught: Duty, Honor, Country. My father learned at West Point to try to make the world a better place to live in, and he worked hard at trying to do this. He was someone who trusted and loved others because he was someone who could be trusted and loved. My father lived a long and happy life that few people could ever dream of having. In particular the last twenty five years of his life in Palm Desert, CA were idealic. While we are all mortal and flawed, my father always thought the best of everyone, and he had no enemies or scapegoats. While I will miss him greatly, I look forward to his internment at West Point alongside my mother in June. There will also be room at a later date for his second wife, Bernie, who loved him and took care of him in his old age.
