Be Thou At Peace

Posted by joseph onativia on February 9, 2024:

I just happened to come across Colonel John C. Barrett on the internet. I put his name in the search and his eulogy came up. I served as his clerk/secretary in the G-3 Section in Frankfurt, Germany. I was in V Corp. I really did not get to know Colonel Barrett. he was a humble man. I just worked there and took orders. I was made Sp5 before I left the service in 1969. He was very good to me. I did not have a personal relationship with him, but I remembered when my father came to visit me, Colonel Barrett gave me money to take my Dad for dinner. I thought that was nice of him. I remembered he had a wife, Gertrude, I think it was. I knew he graduated from West Point, but I never knew where he served before he came to Frankfurt, Germany. Colonel Barrett, may you rest in peace.
