Be Thou At Peace

Posted by Peg (Vernitsky) Rejent on June 15, 2020:

Loving Lt.Col. Max M. Feibelman started for me in July of 1963. Fresh out of high school, I started working at the Pentagon as a stenographer for the USAF and Colonel Feibelman was one of the four (4) officers I assisted.

It was, however, Col. Feibelman and his wife, Harriet, that took me under their wings. I babysat for their beautiful young daughters, Maxine and Leslie, and saw that this man was a loving father with the biggest heart. I loved being in their presence.

Col. Feibelman was a genius. He also could type 100 words per minute, as he demonstrated one afternoon when we both were trying to get an urgent report out. I was the secretary and here he was, this man, my boss - typing faster and more accurately than me!

We kept in touch all these years by annual Christmas greeting cards, a few phone calls, a few visits out west, then via cyberspace with e-mail and Facebook.

I will never forget this wonderful man, this patriot, this man of great humor and passion. He made an imprint on my heart forever. I weep at his passing but rejoice that I was honored to even know him.

Rest in Peace my dear, dear, friend. No one can replace you... the mold has been broken. Love, Peg and Joe Rejent
