Be Thou At Peace

Posted by Tony Loglisci on April 28, 2011:

I was a member of the class of 1985 who had a younger brother in the class of 1988. During ring weekend my younger brother's best friend was killed in an auto accident that devasted him. At the time he didn't know if he would be able to leave the Academy to attend the funeral services. He was extremely emotional and crying uncontrollably as my parents and I consoled him behind Lusk Reservoir in the picnic area. I soon spotted the LTG Scott who just happened to be walking back to his quarters from Michie stadium.

I ran up to him yelling "Sir, Sir May I speak to you for a moment". After briefly reprimanding me for my lack of military courtesy as I forgot to salute in my haste, he quickly calmed me down as I explained what had happened.

He simply asked me what company my brother was in and told me he would take care of it. Almost immediately my brother's TAC Officer contacted him and authorized emergency leave.

My brother was able to grieve and came back days later prepared to dedicate himself back to the Corps. He successfully graduated as one of the first of three brothers in the Academy's history to attend simultaneously.

I will never forget LTG Scott's compassion. I salute you great General and will always have fond memories of your true leadership when it counted the most.

God Bless You Always,

Tony Loglisci (Lolish)
USMA 1985
