GILBRETH, JR., JOSEPH HIRAM Age 84 of Cumming, GA, passed away Wednesday, May 9, 2012.

Born May 15, 1927, to a military family, he graduated tenth in his class from The U. S. Military Academy at West Point in 1949 and served in Korea.
Joseph was an engineer with Bell Laboratories for 30 years in New Jersey, Pennsylvania and Alabama. He was an active member of the West Point Association of Graduates and enjoyed music, computers, books, current events, and the study of spirituality.
He was preceded in death by his wife of 52 years, Jean Herriott Gilbreth.
Survivors include his daughters and sons-in-law, Barbara Gilbreth Rossow and Raleigh Rossow of Charlotte, NC, Catherine Anne Gilbreth of Cumming, Caroline Gilbreth Holley and Steven Holley of Dawsonville; step-children and spouses, Bradford Carl Metzler and Judi Metzler of China, Beverly Metzler Tifft and Stephen Tifft of Lancaster, PA, Craig Howard Metzler and Linda Metzler of Diablo, CA; 16 grandchildren; 2 great grandchildren.
Funeral services will be held Monday, May 14th at 2:00 pm at Ingram Funeral Home Chapel. Interment will follow in Sawnee View Memorial Gardens. The family will receive friends at Ingram Funeral Home on Monday from 12:30 pm until hour of service. Ingram Funeral Home & Crematory Cumming, Georgia is in charge of arrangements. Mrs. Jean Herriott Gilbreth, age 86 of Cumming, GA, passed away Sunday, March 29, 2009.

She was born in Rochester, NY, grew up in Rockville Center, NY, and graduated from Oberlin College in 1944.
She was among the first group of women auditors hired by Price Waterhouse, for whom she worked for two years in New York City. She was an avid gardener and quilter, and she greatly enjoyed classical music.

She is survived by her husband of 52 years Joseph Gilbreth of Cumming, GA; children Bradford Metzler of Minneapolis, MN, Beverly Metzler Tifft of Lancaster, PA, Craig Metzler of Moraga, CA, Barbara Gilbreth Rossow of Charlotte, NC, Catherine Gilbreth of Cumming, GA, and Caroline Gilbreth Holley of Dawsonville, GA; sister Elizabeth Herriott of Canandaigua, NY; sister-in-law Karis Herriott, widow of brother Donald Herriott; 16 grandchildren; 1 great grandchild; and several other relatives.

Funeral services will be held Wednesday, April 1st, at 2:00 pm at Ingram Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Larry Deckard, officiating. Interment will follow in Sawnee View Memorial Gardens. The family will receive friends at Ingram Funeral Home on Wednesday from 12:30 pm until hour of service.
