Be Thou At Peace

Posted by Eugene B. Mechling, Jr on July 23, 2003:

Harry Griffith the Superb!

Harry Griffith was a leader - born to lead!
Harry had the intellect, the character,
the virtues and the integrity to lead.
And Harry led magnificently!
Harry was our First Captain
And Class captain from then on.
He led by example and participation.
He led with intelligence and compassion.
He led with a smile and initiative.
Harry engendered following but followed.
Harry was a friend whose respect one always sought.
Harry was a competitor, athlete, team mate,
But always a square shooter.
Harry was a revered husband a loving father and family man.
Harry was a soldier, an engineer, businessman an American patriot.
Harry was a Christian believer and participant.
Harry provided an example for all to emulate.
What more can I say for you Harry?
You had it all and used every bit of your talents superbly!
How fortunate we were to have known you and
To have served with and under you.
Now that your work is done,
Your course on earth has run,
We say, " WELL DONE; Be thou at peace! "

Bon voyage old friend and God Bless you
For a job well done!
You will never be forgotten!

Gene Mechling "Burlingame" Classmate
