Obituary of Dean Mount Teece

Dean Mount Teece was born on September 2, 1926 in Sublette, Illinois, on September 2, 1926, the son of William and Nellie Teece.

He spent his childhood and young adult life in Wyanet, Illinois and graduated from nearby Princeton High School where he met his future wife, Marilyn. In high school he played football and basketball and also participated in track and field.

He attended Bradley University in Peoria, Illinois before he was admitted to the U.S. Military Academy at West Point in 1945.

He spent four years at the military academy where he played varsity basketball his first two years. He graduated 29th in a class of 574.

He was commissioned as a 2nd Lieutenant and assigned to the Army armor branch in 1949. In June 1949 he married his high-school sweetheart, Marilyn Paschen. In 1950 they went to Germany where Dean served as a platoon leader and tank company commander in the 2nd Armored Calvary Regiment.

In 1951 their first daughter, Deana, was born in Nuremberg, Germany. They returned to the U.S. in late 1953, and Dean left the Army in 1954. Their second daughter, Janice, was born in Evergreen Park, Illinois later that year.

In civilian life, Dean worked for Procter & Gamble in Chicago, Illinois and Cincinnati, Ohio.

He later joined General Electric Co. as an engineer in Cincinnati where their son, David, was born in 1961.

The family moved to Long Island, New York and eventually back to Cincinnati.

In 1975 the family came to Dallas where Dean took the position as a vice president at Cooper Airmotive.

He and Marilyn made many new friends.

He returned to General Electric in Cincinnati in 1979.

He retired in 1987 and moved back to Dallas to be close to old friends, his daughter, Deana, and her family.

He remained active as a retiree, playing golf and serving as the president of the Country Place Homeowners Association in Carrollton, Texas.

He attended church regularly and served as a liturgist. He made friends through his golfing and church associations.

He truly enjoyed sharing the childhood of his two granddaughters, Katy and Susie Perkins.

Dean and Marilyn came to live with Deana and her husband, Rick Perkins, in Murphy, Texas in February 2006.

Dean joined Cornerstone United Methodist Church and cared for Marilyn until her death in October 2009.

Dean continued to live with Deana and Rick, and in his last few months his son, David, as well.

His desire to be home with his family when he passed away was fulfilled on April 29, 2014.
