Be Thou At Peace

Posted by Rev. Scott M. Stevenson on July 17, 2015:

General & Mrs. Costa-Ronnie, Chris, Amdy, Lisa, John, and Bernard (The Amazing Wonder-Cat) moved to Ft. Mac the summer of 1975. I was adopted into this un-believably Gracious, warm, welcoming, charming, tender, & Most of all Loving Family immediately. Andy quickly became my best friend and we did everything tgether. But, I felt like I became best friends with the whole family. To love one member of the Costa Family was to become best friends with all of them. ( I am going to write a book about all of our adventures). This family always brought-out the best in everyone they encountered-and they challenged me to always reach for the stars and beyond. Nobody could fail to make a lasting impact and difference-If the Costa's loved you- because they Really Cared. They made you better than you ever thought you could be. Their door was always open-and of course I adopted them into the Stevenson family, too. I visited them at West Point several times, as well as in Rhinebeck. I visited Chris at Ft. Benning, and I stayed with Eddie & Lisa in Atlanta. I very fondly remember my long talks with all of them that sometimes lasted late into the night. They even gave me a surprise 17th Birthday Party that rocked the neighborhood. I am so glad I got to tell Gen. & Mrs. (The adorable Teddy) Costa all that they meant to me. Gen. Costa's response-with tears in his eyes-" Scott, I can go a long time with words like that!!" I am so glad we'll get to spend eternity together. Enough for now...
