ROBERT SWANTZ OBITUARY

SWANTZ Air Force Lt. Col. (Retired) Robert Frederick Swantz, 78, of Amelia Island, FL, passed away on 12/20/04 after a 5 year battle with cancer.

Robert was born in South Bend, IN and started his undergraduate studies at Purdue University.
After a year he was appointed to the United Stated Military Academy where he graduated in 1949.
Post-graduate degrees were at The University of Michigan and Stanford University.

His 20 years of service to this country included time at the Pentagon and at Cape Canaveral working on the early stages of the guided missile program.

He was a management consultant in Washington, DC and the facilities manager of GE/Fanuc in Charlottesville, VA.

Robert loved nature and the ocean and retired to Amelia Island. He and Barbara frequently enjoyed vacationing and sailing in the Caribbean.

He is survived by his wife, Barbara Ann, a daughter, Linda Swantz of Macungie, PA, a son, Dr. Robert Swantz, a daughter-in-law, Anne and two grandchildren, Christopher and Elizabeth of Penfield, NY and a brother, John Swantz in South Bend, IN.

Interment, with full military honors, will be 1/4/05 at the United Stated Military Academy at West Point with memorial services at 1:30pm at The Old Cadet Chapel.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made in Robert's name to the First Presbyterian Church, 9 N 6th St, Fernandina Beach, FL 32034 in care of Rev. John Harland.
