Be Thou At Peace

This second different hymn, O, When Shall I See Jesus, has the very same title as the hymn in my previous eulogy. I give God all the glory for saving my Dad and for his becoming a Christian and for all the very good things that he did to bless my life. The Christian soldier is the theme of this hymn. The author of the lyrics are again written by Baptist minister John Leland (May 15, 1754 - January 14, 1841) who served the Lord in Virginia and Massachusetts. The music was composed by Mr. William Walker from South Carolina (May 6, 1809 - September 24, 1875). O, When Shall I See Jesus 1 O when shall I see Jesus, And dwell with him above, And drink the flowing fountains Of everlasting love. When shall I be delivered, From this vain world of sin? And with my blessed Jesus Drink endless pleasure in. 2 But now I am a soldier, My Captain's gone before, He's given me my orders, And tells me not to fear: And if I hold out faithful, A crown of life he'll give, And all his valiant soldiers Eternal life shall have. 3 Through grace I am determined To conquer, though I die, And then away to Jesus, On wings of love I'll fly: Farewell to sin and sorrow-- I bid it all adieu, And you my friends, be faithful, And on your way pursue. 4 And if you meet with troubles, And trials on the way, Then cast your cares on Jesus, And don't forget to pray, Gird on the heavenly armor Of faith, and hope and love, And when your race is ended, You'll reign with him above. 5 O do not be discouraged, For Jesus is your friend, And if you lack for knowledge, He'll not refuse to lend, Neither will he upbraid you, Though often you request, He'll give you grace to conquer, And take you up to rest. Daniel 12:1-4 says, "And at that time shall Michael stand up, the great prince which standeth for the children of thy people: and there shall be a time of trouble, such as never was since there was a nation even to that same time: and at that time thy people shall be delivered, every one that shall be found written in the book. And many of them that sleep in the dust of the earth shall awake, some to everlasting life, and some to shame and everlasting contempt. And they that be wise shall shine as the brightness of the firmament; and they that turn many to righteousness as the stars for ever and ever. But thou, O Daniel, shut up the words, and seal the book, even to the time of the end: many shall run to and fro, and knowledge shall be increased." Matthew 13:43-46, our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ says, "Then shall the righteous shine forth as the sun in the kingdom of their Father. Who hath ears to hear, let him hear." Matthew 24:13-14, Jesus Christ says, "But he that shall endure unto the end, the same shall be saved. And this gospel of the kingdom shall be preached in all the world for a witness unto all nations; and then shall the end come." I Timothy 1:12-19a says in the words of Paul the Apostle, "And I thank Christ Jesus our Lord, who hath enabled me, for that he counted me faithful, putting me into the ministry; Who was before a blasphemer, and a persecutor, and injurious: but I obtained mercy, because I did it ignorantly in unbelief. And the grace of our Lord was exceeding abundant with faith and love which is in Christ Jesus. This is a faithful saying, and worthy of all acceptation, that Christ Jesus came into the world to save sinners; of whom I am chief. Howbeit for this cause I obtained mercy, that in me first Jesus Christ might shew forth all longsuffering, for a pattern to them which should hereafter believe on him to life everlasting. Now unto the King eternal, immortal, invisible, the only wise God, be honour and glory for ever and ever. Amen. This charge I commit unto thee, son Timothy, according to the prophecies which went before on thee, that thou by them mightest war a good warfare; holding faith, and a good conscience." Philemon verse 15 says in the words of Paul the Apostle, "For perhaps he therefore departed for a season, that thou shouldest receive him for ever." May God bless you!
