Be Thou At Peace

David Franklin Frech, 86, of Ravenel, SC passed away on Thursday, January 3, 2013.
Born in Illinois, he was the son of the late Fredric and Margaret Frech. He was the loving husband to Ethel Hawn Frech. David was a nuclear engineer with Duke Power.
He was a West Point graduate and spent time in the Korean conflict before returning to the US and enrolling in the Massachusetts Institute of Technology, where he received a Masters Degree in Nuclear Engineering. David then moved to Charlotte, NC to work for Duke Power until his retirement. He was an avid bird watcher and took trips to China and Antarctica.
David is survived by his wife, Ethel Frech; his sons, Todd and Stephen; his daughter, Judy Nelms; and granddaughters, Laura Huntley, Catherine Massey, and Jessica Nelms.
A memorial service will be held at the Unitarian Church in Charleston, SC on January 26th at 5:00 PM.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in honor of David F. Frech, to the North Carolina Audubon Society, 400 Silver Cedar Court, Suite 240, Chapel Hill, NC 27514.

Ethel Frech, 87 years of age, of Knoxville, TN, passed away Sunday, April 19, 2015 at Clear Creek Nursing & Rehabilitation Center in Mint Hill.
Ethel was born October 27, 1927 in Tennessee to the late Floyd Elmer Hawn and the late Laura Hawn.
Ethel graduated from Old Knoxville General Hospital School of Nursing in about 1952.
She was also preceded in death by husband of 51 years, David Franklin Frech; and a brother, Donald Hawn.
The family will hold a celebration of life at a later date.
Survivors include daughter, Judy (Greg) Nelms of Midland; son, Todd (Matt Dean) Frech of Tampa, FL; son, Stephen (Megan) Frech of New York City, NY; brother, Conald Hawn of Sevierville, TN; sister, Dereada Miller of Ashburn, VA; and four granddaughters, Laura Huntley, Catherine Massey, Jessica Nelms, and Madeline Frech.
