Dan A. Brooksher (BIG) U.S.A.F. Retired, 83, of Marietta, GA died Saturday, January 2, 2010.

Funeral services will be held at 11:00 A.M. Thursday, January 7, 2010 at Mayes Ward-Dobbins Chapel in Marietta.

Interment will follow at 1:00 P.M. at Georgia National Cemetery in Canton, Ga.

Mr. Brooksher was born in Fort Smith, Arkansas; he lived in Marietta, Ga the past 23 years. He was a member of First Presbyterian Church, Marietta, GA and was a member of Lost Mountain Kiwanis Club. Mr. Brooksher retired in 1979 as Brigadier General, U.S.A.F. after 34 years. He was a graduate of West Point Military Academy and received a Master's in Business Administration from George Washington University. Mr. Brooksher was Program Manager for Lockheed in the U.S. Space Shuttle Program.

Survivors include his wife of 56 years Val Marie; two sons Dan A. Brooksher, JR and wife Terri of Dallas, GA, and James C. Brooksher and wife Alicia of Temecula, California; four grandchildren David, Matthew, Riley, and Rachel Brooksher; several nieces and nephews.

Family will receive friends from 10:00 - 11:00 A.M. Thursday January 7, 2010 at Mayes Ward-Dobbins Funeral Home & Crematory.
