My wife and I met Ray and his wife, Marian, at a local Founders Day dinner hosted by our Minnesota Society. I was particularly pleased to hear Ray graduated from Watertown High School - just eight miles away from my small town to which I returned after the Army. He maintained friendships there and for some years regularly got together with pals at Hollywood Ranch House on Hwy 7. Julie and I were blessed with an unexpected visit from Ray on September 13th, 2011 - a short six months before his passing. He stopped by our office in downtown Winsted and we had the best visit. We took a photo which captures his kindness and the twinkle in his eye. Just a sweet, classy gentleman. He will be sorely missed. I'm blessed to have known him at all. |
