ALBERT AUSTIN OBITUARY
Albert Morris Austin, a long time civic leader and businessman, passed away at his home April 23, 2006, at the age of 79.

Albert M. Austin was born in Memphis, Tennessee. He attended St. Paul's School in Concord, N.H. and graduated from the United States Military Academy at West Point in 1949 with a BA in engineering.

Albert M. Austin served as captain in the U. S. Air Force before returning to Memphis to work with Boyle Investment Company where he became Executive Vice President and Vice Chairman of the Board until 1989.

He went on to serve as Chairman of the Board of Cannon, Austin and Cannon, Inc. until the present.

Mr. Austin was actively involved in Regions Bank (formerly Union Planters National Bank), Future Memphis, Economics Club of Memphis, 100 Club Chancellor's Round Table for the University of Tennessee, Memphis State University Health Services Advisory Board, West Point Society of the Mid-South, The Hutchinson School, Boys Clubs of Memphis, Shelby County Health Care Corporation, Health Resources Development Corporation, Mid South Medical Council, Mortgage Bankers Association of Memphis, Elmwood Cemetery, Mid-South Coliseum, and the Church of the Holy Communion. He was also past president of the Memphis Country Club, the Wequetonsing Golf Club, and Five Lakes Outing Club.

He leaves his wife Virginia C. Austin; a sister, Mrs. G. Carroll Todd; two children, Christine Cannon, and Albert Austin IV; and six grandchildren.

Services will be celebrated Wednesday, April 26, at 11 a.m. at the Church of the Holy Communion, with private internment in Elmwood Cemetery.

The family requests memorials be sent to the charitable organization of choice.
