Robert L. Orem, 75, Indianapolis, died April 8, 2002. He was an aeronautical engineer 20 years for the Naval Avionics Center, retiring in 1987. A veteran of the Korean War, he served 17 years in the Air Force, retiring in 1967. He also had served in the Army and Navy. Mr. Orem was awarded a 40-year service award by the Secretary of the Navy. A 1949 West Point graduate, he received his master's degree from the University of Illinois.

He was a member of St. Paul's Episcopal Church, the West Point Alumni Association, the Retired Officers' Association, the National Association of Retired Federal Employees, the Veterans of Foreign Wars, Post 261, and Mystic Circle Masonic Lodge.

Memorial contributions may be made to the National Parkinson Foundation, the American Diabetes Association or mental health organization. Services: 11:00 a.m. April 11 in Flanner & Buchanan Lawrence Mortuary, with calling from 4 to 8 p.m. April 10. Graveside services: 3 p.m. April 11 in Walnut Ridge Cemetery, Jeffersonville.

Survivors: wife Mary Ellen Baker Orem; children Daniel, Elizabeth Orem, Patricia Garretson; stepchildren L. Michael, Patrick L. Mitchell, Lynn M. Gosser, Ellen Charlene McClain; two grandsons; eight stepgrandchildren; six great-stepgrandchildren.
