Bernard Rosen
Mr. Bernard Solomon Rosen, age 81, of Stanton, Michigan, passed away Wednesday, November 5, 2008 at his home.
He was born on Oct. 26, 1927, in Elkhart, Indiana, and following his graduation from Elkhart High School, Bernard accepted an appointment to attend the United States Military Academy at West Point where he graduated with the class of 1949.
A decorated veteran of the Korean War, Bernard was wounded in action against the enemy and was a recipient of the Purple Heart. He resigned his commission as a Captain in the U.S. Army in 1954 and returned to civilian life, working for many years as a civil and public engineer.
Committal services, with full military honors, were held at 10:00 a.m. on Monday, December 8, 2008 at Fort Custer National Cemetery near Battle Creek, Michigan. Arrangements were entrusted to the Christiansen Funeral Home & Cremation Center, Greenville, honored providers of Veterans Funeral Care in West Michigan.
