His wife Gwendolyn Mercedes Volckening Spencer passed on 26 Apr 2020 at age 93 Here is her memorial information: She graduated from Visitation Academy and Fontbonne Hall. She attended Sienna Heights College and Universidad de Mexico, and received her Bachelor degree in philosophy from Barry College, FL. She was predeceased by her parents, Henry George Volckening and Lucille Veronica Behr Volckening; her husband, Orton Flournoy Spencer; a daughter, Barbara Jane Spencer; and her sisters, Dolores Agatha Volckening Wolfer (1928-1990) and Lucille Veronica Volckening Schneider.
