Jack Worrell Gillette

West Point, 1949

Be Thou At Peace

Posted by Terry Powers on December 5, 2022:

Jack W. Gillette, Colonel, USAF, (Ret) passed away in his sleep on November 1, 2020 with his bride of 71 years, Alice, by his side.

On November 4, 2020, Alice B. Gillette passed away in her sleep in the same room. Childhood sweethearts, born October 2, 1926 and November 2, 1926, they married after he graduated from West Point and she graduated from the University of North Carolina in 1949.

During the next 71 years, they enjoyed a military career of 30 years (spending only one year apart during a Vietnam tour), and the remaining 41 years enjoying their retirement.

They are survived by their three children, six grandchildren and six great grandchildren.

They loved life and adventure and spent a good portion of their retirement fulfilling that passion. With love and loyalty, as well as best friends for 80 years, it was only right that they passed so close together.

Both were dedicated to family and faith and we honor them for their sacrifices as well as for the love they had for each other and their children during their lifetime. They will always be remembered in our hearts and their legacy lives on.
