Be Thou At Peace

Posted by Trevor W. Swett, Jr. on August 20, 2003:

A Classmate's Tribute to Kirby Lamar

Kirby--truly a role model in all that he did.

I have tried to find one word that best characterizes Kirby's life, but no one word does it: decent, caring, gentle, strong, sensitive, devoted to his Church; a deeply loving husband, father, brother, son. Kirby had an outstanding Army career, capped by distinguished service as a General Officer. He was, indeed, the epitome of what West Point wants its sons and daughters to be. Human beings simply do not come any finer than Kirby Lamar.

Kirby, your classmates and your family thank God for lending you to us. Heaven is a better place now that God has taken you back.

In celebration of your life, we stand bareheaded.

"Well done; be thou at peace." Ted
