It is with sadness that I note the passing of Colonel John Hodes. He was my commanding officer in CORDS (Civil Operations and Revolutionary Support), when he served as the Assistant Chief of Staff in the Republic of Vietnam in 1968. Colonel Hodes came to CORDS as a Lt. Colonel and was promoted soon thereafter. Without question he was one of the finest officers I ever served with in the United States Army. Regardless of rank, Colonel Hodes made each of us feel we were part of a team to accomplish the mission set for us in Vietnam. He led by example - an exemplary officer and gentleman. |
