Lt. Col., U.S. Army (retired), died May 16, 2011 of a massive heart attack. He was 84.

Stan was awarded the Purple Heart and Bronze Star Medal for Valor in 1950, during the early days of the fight for the Korean Peninsula. Stan was a Field Artillery forward observer, calling in fire missions on the Chinese invaders as the U.S. forces were withdrawing. His skilful and brave conduct saved many American lives as he helped slow the Chinese attack which ground to a halt.

Stan graduated from West Point in 1949 and served his country for twenty years, not only in Korea but also in the NIKE Guided Missile Program.

He is survived by his widow, Christine; six children, Mary Jo, John, Barbara, Nancy Ellen, Tom and Brett; grandchildren Jessica, Leah, Misty, Brittany, TJ, Casey and Ryan, and his brother Maj. Gen. George M. Bush.
