Be Thou At Peace

Posted by Max H. Dixson on April 22, 2008:

I grew up in the same small town....(Stanberry, Mo.) as did Collier. He and his parents lived right across the street from us and I wandered over there many days watching the activities. Collier was engaged in scouting and many other team building and community activities that, I am sure, led to a successful career in the military. I remember very well the wedding held in the Stanberry Christian Church and being amazed at the beautiful white ford convertible that the happy couple sped away in. Throughout the years, when I was home on leave from the Navy, I would talk to his father Marion and catch up on the progress and career of "Spike". Yes, we all called him "Spike". In later years while in Spain and on a tour we stopped at an Inn for the evening and a tour group from Atlanta was also enresidence. While talking to several of the members of that tour it was discovered that they knew where Stanberry was and one was a neighbor of Spike. It is a very small world and it is a great pleasure to see the many and commendable achievements of another small town boy!
