USMA Class of 1949. Cullum No. 17141. He was the son of Chris A. Lay Sr. and Alice Colvin Lay. On Wednesday afternoon, December 28, 1949 as Chris Lay Jr., he married Ann Crowhurst at the Grace Episcopal Church in Nutley, New Jersey. They were the parents of three children. He was assigned to Research and Development Command to develop weapon systems and equipment. He earned a degree in electrical engineering and entered MIT to earn a master's. He left the United States Army in 1959 with the rank of Captain. His specialty was the production of aerial reconnaissance and mapping cameras, precision optics and electro-visual systems. He retired as a Senior Vice President for LORAL Fairchild Systems Corporation. He was a member of the Institute of Electrical and Electronic Engineers, American Institute of Aeronautics and Astronautics and the Associating of Old Crows.
