THEODORE DEMURO OBITUARY

Colonel Theodore F. "Ted" DeMuro, 83, passed away on Friday, Jan. 8, 2010.

A memorial gathering will take place on Friday, Jan. 15, 2010, from 9:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. at John E. Day Funeral Home, 85 Riverside Ave., Red Bank, N.J., followed by a Mem orial Mass to be held at 1 p.m. at St. Leo the Great R.C. Church in Lincroft. Interment is private.

Ted was born in Nutley, N.J., and resided in the River Plaza section of Middletown. He graduated from Nutley High School and Stevens Institute of Technology, and was a West Point graduate, Class of 1949. He also graduated from the University of Michigan, receiving a master's degree in engineering.

Ted was the commander of Air Force communications for the final year of the Vietnam War, and he continued to serve his country until his retirement in 1975.

He was a communicant of St. Leo the Great R.C. Church in Lincroft and a former member of the Middletown Rotary Club.

He was predeceased by his parents; A. Theodore DeMuro and Linda (St. Thomas) DeMuro.

He is survived by his wife of 60 years, Barbara Scharg DeMuro, his children; Donna Downing and her husband Brien and their children, Mathew and Phillip of Centerville, Va.; Mark C. DeMuro of New York City; Jeffrey S. DeMuro and his wife Margot of Fairfax, Va., and Nadia J. DeMuro and Christy Greene, Elizabeth and Erica of Overland Park, KS; and his sister and her husband; Nadia and Major General Donald Lasher of Williamsburg, Va.

In lieu of flowers, memorial donations can be made to the charity of your choice.
