JOHN WALTER OBITUARY
WALTER, John Adkin, III, Colonel, USAF, Retired, age 77, died Friday, December 27, 2002.

Funeral services will be held Tuesday, December 31, 2002 at 2:00 PM from Leak-Memory Chapel with the Rev. Dr. James I. Walter officiating.

Burial will follow in Greenwood Cemetery with Full Military Honors.

A Montgomery native, Col. Walter was a graduate of Sidney Lanier High School and the United States Military Academy.
He earned a Master's Degree in Business Administration from Syracuse University.

During his 30 year military career, he fought with the 99th Infantry in World War II, flew B-26's in the Korean War and served at 7th Air Force Headquarters during the Vietnam Conflict.

After his military retirement, he was the Executive Di-rector of Goodwill Industries of Central Alabama for 18 years.

He is survived by his wife of 52 years, Alliene Wiggins Walter; son, John A. Walter IV, of Montgomery; daughter and son-in-law, Marlou W. and Sherman Goldman of Montgomery; son and daughter-in-law, Dr James W. and Sharon Walter of Williamsburg, VA; and grandchildren: Will, Walt and Whitney Goldman and Colin and Claire Walter. Other survivors include his brother and sister-in-law, Dr. James I and Katharine Walter and nephews, Mark and Michael Walter.

In lieu of flowers, memorial gifts to the Alzheimer's Foundation, (919 N. Michigan Ave, Chicago, IL 60611) or your favorite charity would be appreciated.

The family wishes to thank the Staff of Rose-wood Terrace for the loving care given to Col.

Walter during the final years of his illness. Visitation will be one hour prior to the service on Tuesday.
