Winston Guerd Walker, age 84 of Fort Walton Beach, passed away at his home on Oct. 29, 2009 after a brief illness.

Winston was born Dec. 10, 1925 in Baker, Fla. on the Walker Cattle Ranch to the late Craig and Carlie Walker.
He attended Columbia Military Academy and graduated with top honors from West Point, class of 1949.

Winston served in the Korean War, was Billy Bowlegs 1965-66, served as Fort Walton Beach City Council Member 1957-1958, and was Fort Walton Beach City Manager. He was 32nd Degree Mason, and retired as CEO of Ready Bank (currently Vanguard Bank). He was a lifelong member of St. Simons-on-the-Sound Episcopal Church and active member of numerous other Fort Walton Beach charitable activities.

Survivors include Edith Ann Walker Press and her husband, Michael C. Press.

Funeral Services will be held at St. Simons-on-the-Sound Episcopal Church in Fort Walton Beach on Wednesday, Nov. 4, 2009 at 11 a.m. with the Rev. William T. Richter Jr. officiating. Burial will follow at Beal Memorial Cemetery.
The family would like to extend an extra special thanks to all of Winston's friends for their continual support and many kindnesses.

In lieu of flowers, the family request that charitable contributions be made in Memory of Winston G. Walker to St. Simons-on-the-Sound Episcopal Church, 28 Miracle Strip Pkwy, Fort Walton Beach or a charity of your choice.
