Be Thou At Peace

David Krimendahl, was born in Cincinnati, Ohio, and was raised in Celina, Ohio, the son of Herbert and Mary Bess Krimendahl.

Dave's passion for flying began as a young boy; he took his first solo flight at age 16. His love of flying drew him to the U.S. Military Academy at West Point, and joined the U.S. Air Force.

Dave was a decorated pilot in the Korean War, receiving the Distinguished Flying Cross and three Air Medals.

He flew for over 60 years as a private pilot.

Upon discharge from the military, Dave served as the Director of the Indiana State Aeronautics Commission.

Dave then joined Stokely-Van Camp, where he worked for 28 years, retiring as a Corporate Vice President.

He married Martha Link Wiles of Flint, Michigan; they celebrated their 50th Anniversary on May 9, 2009.

He was survived by his wife, "Link", and their three children, Elizabeth Link Krimendahl of Holland, Michigan, David Christian (Monika) Krimendahl II of Holland, Michigan, and Mary Kathrine Krimendahl of Walloon Lake, Michigan; three grandsons, David Christian, Elijah Wyatt, and Marek Allen Krimendahl; his brother, H. Frederick (Amelia) Krimendahl II of New York, New York and two nieces.

In addition to flying, Dave's many interests included skeet shooting, snow skiing, sailboat racing on Walloon Lake, the Indianapolis 500, professional football, tennis, and commitment to a variety of community causes.

He was a member of Second Presbyterian Church, where he served as a deacon and church activities.

He was a member of The Hundred Club, Quiet Birdmen, Crows Nest Skeet Club, Woodstock Club, Dramatic Club, Players Club, and Walloon Yacht Club.

Dave will be remembered for his sense of honor, strong moral character, high integrity, personable nature and dry wit.

A celebration of life was held on August 31, 2009 at Second Presbyterian Church. Arrangements handled by Crown Hill Funeral Home. The family is grateful to St Vincent Hospice for their tender guidance and support.
