Be Thou At Peace

COLD SPRING, N.Y. Curtis Langford Anders of Garrison, N.Y., writer, patriot, shot twice, married once to Martha Lou Anders, late of Garrison, N.Y., passed away in his sleep Dec. 18, 2010, at the age of 83.
Texan Curt Anders was graduated from the United States Military Academy at West Point in 1949, commanded an infantry rifle company in the first year of the Korean War and received an M.A. from Columbia University in 1955 while a member of USMA's English Department faculty.
He authored nine published books on war, primarily the Civil War.
Curt was born Sept. 22, 1927, in Commerce to Curtis Anders Sr. and Lucy Viola Bell. His wife was born Aug. 1, 1927, in James, Texas, to John Daniel Buie and Bina Emaline Wilson. Martha Lou was a school teacher.
Though Curt lived, wrote and worked in the West Point area following the war, the Lone Star Flag still flies from his porch.
