Be Thou At Peace

A USMA Graduate class of 1949.
He was awarded the Distinguished Flying Cross for his service in Korea during the period 1951-1952.

He was an Air Force pilot in jet pilot training assigned to the 3531st Pilot Training Squadron, Bryan AFB, Texas.
He died in 1955 due to the structural failure and crash of the T-33A he was piloting near Concord/Centerville, Texas.
He was survived by his father, John H Carey and mother Maryan Carey (born Meigs),one sister, Jean Ruth Carey, his wife, son, and daughter,
He married Patricia Stewart 16 Jul 1949, had two sons, Jay Allen Jr (age 4), Michael Patrick (age 2), and later one daughter, Patricia.

As reported in the local paper, Jay had only six more flying hours to get his jet wings. In March the local paper published a photo of his son, Jay Jr, being given the wings his father would have received.
