Susan Griswold Steel

September 10, 1926- February 18, 2014

Jackson, Tennessee- Susan Griswold Steel died Tuesday morning, February 18, 2014. She was 87. Susan is originally from Columbus, GA, the daughter of Fearis and Susan Caldwell. She was a lifelong member of the Colonial Dames and the Junior League. She was a member of Trinity Episcopal Church. Susan was a graduate of St. Mary's Academy, the University of Georgia and received a Masters Degree from Columbia University. She was a lifelong member of the Episcopal Church. Her passions included cooking, knitting, and opera.

She was married to James Harris Steel, LTC (R) USMA, Class of 1949, US Army, who died in 1994.

She is survived by her children Jim, Joe, Alexander, and Susan Hudson. She leaves 12 grandchildren and 11 great grandchildren.

Funeral services will be held at St. Thomas Episcopal Church, located at 12200 Bailey Cove Road, Huntsville, AL 35803-2641, on March 3, 2014, she will be interred at Epiphany Episcopal Church, Cape Coral, FL with her husband.

The family asks that in lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the Alter Guild of Trinity Episcopal Church. Mom was always a member of the Alter Guild in every church she attended around the world and felt it part of her ministry to the church.
