JOHN HAYES OBITUARY John, age 93, passed away peacefully on September 9th surrounded by family. He was born and raised in Minneapolis and enjoyed his summers with family at Christmas Lake. He graduated from West Point, served in the Korean War. He married Jean Brooke in 1953 and together they had six children Barb, Mary, Patti, Kathy, Bill, and Nancy. They moved to Spokane in 1963 where he owned the Coca Cola Bottling Co. John loved Spokane and always enjoyed being part of the community. He was a dedicated Gonzaga University regent and trustee. He was an active member of the Spokane Club and Spokane Country Club for many years and was proud to wear his purple jacket in the Lilac Parade. Depending on which of his kids was in college at the time he was a loyal Zag, Cougar, or Husky fan. Faith, family, and friends were always important to him. John was a West Point grad, soldier, paratrooper, butterfly swimmer, scotch drinker, jazz lover, devoted husband, loving father of six, grandpa to five, and a one-of-a-kind charming Irishman.
