Be Thou At Peace

Posted by Guy Peter Oakes on July 15, 2020:

I met Col. Hoisington in the fall of 1969 in the Hudson Highlands of New York State at West Point, where he worked and resided at that precipitous time. I was always impressed by Col. Hoisington's quiet and persistent manner. He built things, like his own stereo music system that he loved to play lovely classical music on. Seemed like his one Christmas his wife or kids or both perhaps got him a trumpet and I recall fondly listening to him play and practice while I waited for his daughter. Col. Hoisington was an encouraging and dependable inspiration to me as I navigated young adulthood. He always provided a kind word znd thoughtful advice. He will be sorely missed.
